What is this site, exactly?

A collection of captions and short writing, plus notes on how to do it well. Writing nine good words is harder than writing ninety, and this is where I keep working at it.

Can I use your captions?

For something personal, go ahead. If it's commercial, ask first — a line is quick and I usually say yes. Please don't pass them off as your own.

Do you take requests?

Not to order, but I like a good prompt. Tell me the situation and it might turn into something, even if it takes a while to surface.

Is there a newsletter?

No list, no inbox clutter. The archive is the newsletter — new things land there, and you can wander back whenever you like.

Can I send you my own writing?

Yes, and I read all of it. I can't promise feedback on everything, but a genuinely good line always gets a reply.
